Alabama beats VaTech, but not convincingly enough for critics

On the season opener against Virginia Tech, National Champion Alabama walks away with the victory. However, the likes of ESPN have been wondering if the tide still rolls. Bama allowed 212 yards while only gaining 206 themselves. In the grand scheme of things, a victory is a victory, and this is just the first step towards another national championship. I saw wait a few weeks, and if Saban doesn’t have the Tide rolling up the score on opponents soon, I may start to wonder if 4 championships in 5 years is too much to expect from Nick Saban.

Clemson takes out Georgia, Tajh Boyd outplays Aaron Murray

The quarterback match up of week 1 when Heisman candidates Tajh Boyd and Aaron Murray locked horns in South Carolina. After a fierce back and forth, eventually the Tigers wore down the Bulldogs. Although Murray topped Boyd for yardage, his one interception and Boyd’s three touchdowns put Clemson over the top. An exciting game with tons of big plays, it will be an exciting season for both teams, however with Georgia’s team looking rough by the end, I have to wonder what is happening to SEC teams this year?

Wisconsin crushes UMass in Andersen’s first game as Wisconsin head coach

Gary Andersen had a splash with his first gig as the Badger’s head coach. UMass may never be known as a football school, but kept the team to 212 yards total, while piling up nearly 600 themselves. Badgers running backs  Melvin Gordon and James White ran for over 140 yards and a touchdown, each. Saturday was all Badgers at Camp Randall as they shut out the Minutemen. If the Badgers are half as good against big time opponents as they were against UMass, Andersen could be smelling roses his first year of coaching in the Big Ten.
